What a blast to make! Star is like me hyped up on sugar. She is weird and quirky but so much fun for everyone. This costume took me hours of planning and creating. The wand lights up and even houses bubbles in the hilt. I used a special process which I came up with myself to make this wand. It is unlike anything I have ever seen before and I am quite proud of having created it myself.
The dress is made out of high quality jean fabric, is fully boned, and lined! First I made a pattern to match the fullness of her dress in the cartoon. How would one get that poof without an underskirt? The lace at the bottom hem is attached to it’s very own underskirt layer, but still all in one piece. The patch on the edge of the skirt was also made by me and hand embroidered.
Star comes from a place called Muney. She has been banned to Earth for her reckless behavior by her parents the King and Queen. Star’s best friend is Princess Unicorn Head who gets taken to a boarding school for unruly Princesses. But Princess Unicorn Head provides Star with interdemensional scissors to help her scoot around different dimensions, not only causing mischief but taking her friend Marco along for the ride. Attempting to keep her wand away from Ludo, a tiny monster up to no good, and really no good at his job, Star VS the Forces of Evil is a fun show for kids and adults alike! Check it out on DisneyXD the next time you get a chance.
To be honest, Star was one of the first Cosplays where everything from head to toe was made by me, except the shoes of course. I am not a cobbler! Her debut was at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in October of 2015 and she got a lot of attention there! She will be one of 2016’s cosplay costumes for my circuit.
